All For GOD’s Glory

BibleIn everything we do we are to give glory to GOD. In fact the whole reason we exist is to give GOD glory.  After all it is the chief end of man is to glorify GOD, and enjoy Him forever.  The Apostle Paul tells us in his first letter to the Corinthian Church that in every act no matter how mundane we are to glorify GOD.

“Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
-1 Corinthians 10:31

How can I glorify GOD in eating and drinking?  It’s quite simple, through adoration, thankfulness, and gratitude. Do I thank the Lord for every meal?  Do I thank GOD for clean, healthy water?  We live in a country where food and water are abundant and often are taken for granted.

Have you ever been to a third-world country or even Mexico and drink the water?  A few hours after ingesting what appeared to be normal water you come to find it was a terrible mistake.  What happens shortly after drinking is something you don’t want to experience.  It is so common that in Mexico it even has a clever name, Montezuma’s Revenge.  Oh Lord, how grateful I am for water clean water.

1 Thess 5:16-18Let’s take this another step further.  Have you ever thanked GOD for the ability to breathe?  It’s something that happens naturally.  We don’t even have to try to do it.  I’ve experienced seeing someone on a ventilator multiple times and when you see that someone has lost their ability to breathe it changes something in you where you are grateful for every breath.

We can look at this from another point of view, in the realm of healthy body function.  I can give glory to GOD for thanking Him for giving me the ability to process fluids and excrete waste normally.  There are many who cannot walk to the restroom and need help doing so.  For healthy body function and health in general we should be grateful and give Glory to GOD through adoration.

We must constantly be operating with one thing in mind and that is glorifying GOD.  Thomas Watson said, “The glory of God is a silver thread which must run through all our actions.”  Whether we eat, drink, or breath, do all to bring glory to GOD.  Seek with all diligence to bring GOD glory, for it is the reason He created us.  If we act to glorify GOD he will glorify our souls.

“Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
