7:43 PM – “It is part of the definition (of marriage), that it is entered into INTENTIONALLY.  That it is to be entered into voluntarily, and that it is the will of God for the man and the woman.”

7:59 PM – Dr. Barrick continues to drive home the idea of the intentionality of marriage.  This intentionality denotes that it reflects the design of God.

“Marriage is to be intentional, entered freely, a union of one man and one woman, lifelong, and to be entered into publically; publically for the protection of the society, the law, the children, the individuals involved, and the institution itself.”

8:10 PM – BREAK TIME! Follow us on Twitter for more updates. 8:25 PM – Jimmy Caraway takes the pulpit; “My goal tonight to to show you that Jesus did comment on marriage, and that anything that deviates from that is not God’s design.” 8:29 PM – “Was Jesus OK with homosexuality because He was silent? The scriptures clearly say that He was not silent, nor was He “ok” with it.” -Jimmy Caraway 8:33 PM – Jimmy is preaching first from Matthew 5:17-18. “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. “For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. {Mat 5:17-18 NASB} 8:43 PM – Why do we single out homosexuality among all of the commandments in the Old Testament? ‘Do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these THE NATIONS which I am casting out before you have become defiled. ‘For THE LAND has become defiled, therefore I have brought its punishment upon it, so the land has spewed out its inhabitants. {Lev 18:24-25 NASB} God’s emphasis on these sins affecting non-Jews mean that these commandments are cross-cultural. They were practiced in the land before the Jews, so it’s not just an issue for Jews under the law. 8:46 PM

8:48 PM – Jimmy turns us to Matthew 19:3-6 Some Pharisees came to Jesus, testing Him and asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?” And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, and said, ‘FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH’? “So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.” {Mat 19:3-6 NASB}

8:51 PM – When confronted about divorce in Matt 19, Jesus leaned on Scripture. “Scripture is its own defense. He didn’t resort to a philosophical defense, He leaned on Scripture. Scripture is sharper than any two edged sword and it exposes people for who they really are.” – Jimmy Caraway

8:55 PM – Jesus answered the Pharisees questions about the law of Moses, not from Moses but “from the beginning”. “He gives no indication anything has changed. When the Son of God appeals to Scripture, we can do no better.” -Jimmy Caraway

9:00 PM – “Without male and female you don’t have marriage. Period. It is impossible to have a marriage apart from God’s design. When you mix up God’s design, you’re going to have problems.”

9:04 PM – “Why didn’t Jesus talk about homosexuality? Because, honestly, for the Jews it was not a big issue in Jesus’ day. But He did talk about it implicitly. Paul? It was a big issue for him, the culture that surrounded him was full of it. That’s why it’s clearer in Paul than in the Gospels.”

9:06 PM – Jimmy wraps up in prayer, and Mike dismisses us. See you all tomorrow!
